Thermal performance analysis includes assessment of overheating risk for both dwellings and commercial buildings, heating and cooling load calculations and plant sizing as well as the analysis of thermal bridges to assess psi value and condensation risk.
Overheating assessment can use various thermal comfort standards including ‘temperature out-of-range’ standards (e.g. CIBSE Guide A 2006) or ‘adaptive thermal comfort’ standards (e.g. CIBSE TM52).
Many of our DSM consultancy projects also include the modelling of natural ventilation, for example to including the effect of wind and stack-driven ventilation on overheating risk in naturally ventilated or mixed-mode buildings. Ventilation modelling is commonly used to support the assessment of indoor air quality and thermal comfort.
